Today on the east bench of Salt Lake City a lady called for our rodent control services. She was hearing loud scratching in her attic during the night and it was keeping her awake.
When I got there I went up on the roof to try and locate where an animal might be entering the roof. I found that a roof vent was completely gnawed off. I also went into the attic and found feces scattered around and claw marks on some 2x4s that went down into a wall. These raccoons were having a hay day in there.
I sealed the air vent shut until a roofer could come and replace the vent and cleaned up the feces in the attic. I also set a live trap to hopefully catch the raccoon tonight. I will keep you updated on our Salt Lake City critter control and on this catch!
Three days later I caught the biggest raccoon I have ever seen. I set the another trap and caught another small one that night. The lady that owns the house lives right next to a gully and thinks the gully is probably full of raccoons. Instead of trying to catch them all, she just wants to keep them off here roof. The raccoons where able to climb up the rain gutter down spout to gain access to the roof. I strapped two rows of bird spikes on the down spout, making it impossible for raccoons to climb.
I never knew raccoons were in zoos eitehr quite intereting. I had actually never seen a raccoon in nature before until I was home this last time for Fall break. Unfortunately it wasn’t alive because someone had accidently hit it with their car. However, it was HUGE! Probably easily compared with a large dog or a baby bear. I didn’t realize they could get this big.I also really enjoyed watching your Korean equivalent to Lady Gaga. It was entertaining to say the least
Spring and fall are the seasons that spiders are seen more prevalent inside our homes. I just received a call from a man that was seeing spiders in his house. He was afraid his one year old son was going to get bit while crawling on the ground. When I got there and started to spray I only saw one spider in the house. But as soon as I went into the crawl space it was another story. I saw at least five different types of spiders. The walls and support beams were covered with spiders, egg sacks and webs. I felt like I was in the movie Arachnophobia. I sprayed those walls and beams really well and most of the spiders died before I got out of the crawl space. That one goes in the books for scary pest control jobs.
Raccoons can potentially cause a lot of damage around a home, especially if they get into the crawl space. Most people never pay much attention to the crawl space in their homes, so problems there can go overlooked.
